Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the titled head capable of having a head surface of an arbitrary shape and being free from influences of the surface conditions of a substrate by a method wherein a flexible film having the function of a thermal printing head is adhered onto a substrate surface of any desired shape. CONSTITUTION:A heat-generating layer 3 and a conductive layer 4 are sequentially formed on the surface of the film 2, followed by forming a protective layer 5 if necessary, to produce a flexible main body 6 of the head which has the function of the thermal printing head. The main body 6 is supported by adhering it onto the surface of a thermally conductive substrate 1 having a surface 1A of an arbitrary shape by an adhesive or the like. Since the head comprises the film as a main component, it is unlikely that the defects arising from the surface conditions such as warps, flaws, etc. will occur which are characteristic of ceramic substrates or the like, and a pattern of hifh precision can be obtained.
