Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a tire molding drum which is not rickety and also is free from any excess load resting on a power transmission mechanism by molding a slide part for diametrical expasnsion/contraction consisting of a dovetail and a dovetail tenon, and also designing a conic member so that it may be driven from the both sides of a drum support axis.
CONSTITUTION: The external diameter of segments 1a, 1b is caused to expand and contract by displacing the segments 1a, 1b formed through division into a prearranged number of the external peripheral surface part 1 of cylinder shape toward te interior of a radial direction. In this case, conic members 3, 4 are caused to advance or retreat in mutually opposite directions along a support axis 2 by driving both drive devices 7, 8. This advance/retreat action is synchronized to a linkage unit 9. As a result of the retreat of the conic members 3, 4, dovetail members 5, 6 of the segments 1a, 1b are slided along tenons 10, 11 provided on the conic members. Following this action, the segments 1a, 1b are displaced toward the interior and outerior of the radial direction.
