Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the hygroscopic exchange rate of the captioned element at a hot humidity, by impregnating a paperlike material, which consists of mainly potassium titanate fiber, with a form retaining agent and a moisture absorbing material so as to stick the form retaining agent and a moisture absorbing material to the paperlike material, whereby the durability and refractoriness of the paperlike material are increased.
CONSTITUTION: A hygroscopic exchange element is obtained by impregnating a paperlike material, which consists of mainly potassium titanate fiber, with a form retaining agent and a moisture absorbing material so as to stick the form retaining agent and moisture absorbing material to the paperlike material. There is a method of impregnating the paperlike material with a form retaining agent to stick the latter to the former, which consists of soaking the paperlike material in inorganic colloid of silica sol and/or alumina sol. Moisture absorbing materials usable in this exchange element are lithium chloride, lithium bromide, glycerin and polyethylene glycol.
