Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a bumper with light weight and high strength as well as with shock absorbing function and suppressing thereby the manufacturing cost by making the bumper and spoiler parts by means of solid molding in a hollow construction.
CONSTITUTION: The body 1 of a bumper is composed of bumper part 1a and spoiler part 1b molded solidly in a hollow construction by means of hollow molding method. A pair of posts 1c are formed at the right and left sides of the bumper part 1a to bear the external force applied when the car collides with shock damping action, and the bumper's body 1 is installed on the car by fastening the back peripheries of the posts 1c to brackets 3 provided on the chassis of the car 2. The bumper's body 1, made in plastics, has a hollow construction everywhere but posts 1c and opening 1e for mounting the grill, so that it is light in weight and has a rigidity against bending stress sufficient for practical use.
