PURPOSE:To prevent a ceramic part from cracking by a method wherein a hard metal sprayed layer having a predetermined thickness is provided on the outside peripheral surface of a ceramic-made mouthpiece main body so that compressive stresses can be easily applied to the outside peripheral part of the ceramic body. CONSTITUTION:The mouthpiece A is provided at a predetermined position in a cylinder head 3 of the diesel engine so that a space inside the cylinder head 3 and the mouthpiece A constitutes the swirl chamber 4, which mouthpiece A is produced by forming the hard metal sprayed layer 2 of steel or the like having a thickness of about 1-3mm. on the outside periphery of the cylindrical mouthpiece main body 1 made of silicon nitride ceramic material, for example, and has a hollow part for constituting the swirl chamber. The mouthpiece A is designed to inject combustion gases into a combustion chamber 5 through an injection port 6 at the time of a combustion stroke. With the mouthpiece A constructed as described above, resistance to heat and impact can be obtained.
