Abstract
PURPOSE: To suppress the formation of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides occurring during combustion, by using an emulsified fuel obtained by blending a specific absorbent for sulfur oxide with water in fuel oil with stirring.
CONSTITUTION: A solution of one or more absorbents for SOx selected from the group consisting of CaO, Ca(OH)2, MgO, Mg(OH), NaOH, dolomite, calcium formate, and calcium salt of fatty acid is added to the water tank 13, and dissolved with stirring. The solution is blended with a pure fuel and a surface active agent for emulsion in the device 14 to prepare an emulsified fuel, which is fed to the boiler 4 to carry out combustion. The amount of the absorbent for SOx is 0.5W4 (preferably 0.6W1.5) calculated as equivalent ratio of alkali metal to S in the fuel oil. The amount of water added is 5W50wt% (preferably 10W30wt%) based on fuel oil.
