Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the flow speed and flow rate accurately without disturbing the flow of fluid by providing the 1st ultrasonic oscillator groups and the 2nd ultrasonic oscillator groups in parallel to the flow, and successively operating the oscillators of the respective groups at prescribed delay intervals. CONSTITUTION:The 1st ultrasonic oscillator groups 22a-22e and the 2nd ultrasonic oscillator groups 25a-25e are disposed in diagonal positions on the wall of a flow speed measuring pipe 21, by making the intervals between the oscillators constant. These oscillator groups 22, 25 are connected with analog delay circuits 23a-23e and 26a-26e having a delay time difference td. The 1st ultrasonic oscillator groups 22 are operated by the driving pulses of a driving waveform generating circuit 24 by way of delay circuits 23a-23e, and a combined ultrasonic beam is sent in a theta3 direction by suitably selecting td. This beam is received in the groups 25a-26e, and is synthesized by a synthesizing circuit 27. The synthesized beam is inputted to a time measuring circuit 28. Thereby, the speed and rate of flow are accurately measured without disturbing the flow of the fluid 29.
