Abstract

PURPOSE:To connect an antenna which is in best condition at all times to a receiver, by detecting the intensity of received electromagnetic waves for all the antennas periodically, selecting the antenna having maximum value of the intensity of received electromagnetic waves, and switching the receiver to this antenna. CONSTITUTION:Assuming that an antenna switching circuit 7 selects a reception antenna A1 and it is connected to a FM radio receiver 9. At this state, a switching scanning circuit 8 switches antennas A2-A4 sequentially with a scanning pulse ep from a switching control circuit 14. The reception signal of the antennas A2-A4 is reproduced at a subreceiver 12, the signal level at respective time is read into a reception state detecting and storing circuit 13 and it is stored until the next detection time. The detection and storage is repeated at a given period. When the reception signal of the antenna A1 which is detected at a reception state detecting circuit 11 is lower than the maximum storing value of the circuit 13, a switching control circuit 14 controls the circuit 7 and switching is made so that the receiver 9 can be connected to an antenna with the maximum reception level stored by the circuit 13.
