Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure an accurate detection for the fatigue degree of a photoreceptor which is used repetitively, by forming a pattern latent image corresponding to the density reference pattern through an optical system for picture exposure and then detecting the surface potential of the latent image or the picture density after a development. CONSTITUTION:A density reference pattern 18 is formed on the upper surface of an original base 1 and illuminated by an illumination lamp 5 simultaneously with an exposure of a picture. Then the pattern 18 is projected on a photoreceptor drum 3 via the same exposing device 4 to obtain a pattern latent image corresponding to the pattern 18. The potential of the pattern latent image is detected by a surface potentiometer 12, and this potential varies according to the fatigue degree of the photoreceptor of the drum 3 even though other factors are under the same conditions. In this connection, the difference of potential between a high- and low- potential regions or the speed of response of these regions are detected by the potentiometer 12 to obtain the degree of fatigue of a photoreceptor.
