Abstract

PURPOSE: To deposit and obtain cheaply a titled composite powder able to impart conductivity to plastics without damaging their color tone and transparency, by adding tin chloride and antimony chloride in a solution state to a heated suspension of barium sulfate powder.
CONSTITUTION: Barium sulfate powder having a specific surface area of 1W10m2/g is dispersed in hot water to prepare a suspension. 78W783g/l of tin chloride and 0.085W212g/l of antimony chloride are dissolved in at least one of alcohol, aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and acetone to prepare a solution. When the solution is added to the above-mentioned suspension, fine powder having a composition of 0.1W20wt% antimony and the balance of tin oxide, and a mean particle diameter of 0.2μm or less is formed and deposited in a state mixed with barium sulfate powder. The thus-obtained composite powder is ideal as a conductivity imparting agent for plastics which are used for display electrodes, etc.
