Abstract
PURPOSE: A herbicidal composition, containing S-(4-chlorobenzyl) N,N-diethylthiolcarbamate and 2-chlorobenzoic acid or a derivative thereof, and having improved selectivity for herbicidal effects between weeds and crops.
CONSTITUTION: A herbicidal composition containing (A) S-(4-chlorobenzyl) N,N- diethylthiolcarbamate and (B) a benzoic acid derivative expressed by the formula (X is H or Cl; R is H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or phenyl) as active constituents at a weight ratio between the components (A) and (B) of preferably 1:0.1W1. The herbicidal composition will not exhibit the phytotoxicity of the component (A) to inhibit the plant length or the number of stems even under the bad environment of strongly reducing paddy fields and improves the herbicidal effects and usable more safely. The herbicidal composition is applicable to rice plants in the period from the emergence to fiveWsix leaves and the cultivation by the direct sowing, transplanting of young seedlings and mature seedlings.
