PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a control system in a brushless rotary electric machine by winding a signal winding for detecting the malfunction of a revolving rectifier on the lateral shaft of an AC exciter and mounting a detector for detecting a malfunction on the basis of the output of the signal winding on the rotary electric machine body. CONSTITUTION:A signal winding 3 for inducing a voltage by an armature reaction is wound on the lateral shaft of an AC exciter 2, a detector for detecting the malfunction of a revolving rectifier 4 by the output of the winding 3 is contained in a case, is mounted at a rotary electric machine body and integrally constructed. Since the output of the signal winding 3 is low in an ordinarily operating state, a thyristor 12 is not conducted. When the rectifiers 5-10 of the rectifier 4 are shortcircuited or opened, the output of the signal winding 3 becomes high, the thyristor 12 is thus conducted, and an warning device 14 will operate.
