Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a sliding plate which can be machined and is of less abrasion due to low friction by partially hardening the friction surface of a sliding plate of material which can be hardened with the help of laser beam, etc. and then applying polishing process.
CONSTITUTION: A blade stand is deposited on a bed 1 with a sliding surface 2 being finished-scraped on its surface. The bed 1 is of such material as high carbon steel which can be hardened and partially hardened parts 4 through hardening process are formed by scanning a laser beam criss-cross on the surface. The hardened part 4 is formed in numerous straps mutually crossing the other at right angle. Next, the surface of said part is lightly polished with the assistance of a flexible polishing cloth. Then the soft part which is not hardened, is scraped off more deeply than the hardened part to form a concave part 5. The concave part 5 serves as an oil trap, thus allowing effective lubrication action.
