PURPOSE:To lower the loss of an apparatus and simplify apparatus constitution by disposing each one of two half mirrors and at least one mirror at each vertex of a regular polygon thereby constituting the ring resonator type optical frequency branching filter. CONSTITUTION:Half mirrors 1, 2 and a mirror 3 are disposed respectively at an angle of 60 deg. to the vertexes of a regular triangle of length l on one side. The incident wave A entering the half mirror 1 repeats the reflection on the half mirror 2, the mirror 3, the half mirror 1, the half mirror 2..., thereby forming an optical path of a ring shape. As a result, the incident wave A is divided to transmitted wave B and reflected wave C in accordance with its wavelength, and resultant waves are completely separated spacially to be taken out.
