Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize a tension applied onto a ribbon during a type printing operation in a printer provided with a wire print head, by arranging a tension-variable plate which will move and apply a strong tension onto the ink ribbon when the head is brought in a home position.

CONSTITUTION: When a head 1 is in a type printing position, a tension-variable plate 27 is embodied with an arm 9 by pressing the leftside surface of its through hole 32 onto a pin 33 with a spring force of a subsidiary spring 35. In this state, the arm 9 is affected only by the spring force of a spring 15. Consequently, an ink ribbon 38 is affected through the arm 9 and another arm 10 by weak forces of the spring 15 and another spring 16, respectively, enough to eliminate the looseness of the ribbon 38. Therefore, even in such an unexpected accident that wires, extending beyond the front face 4 of the head, would run, the wires are not damaged by the ribbon. In case of rewinding the ribbon 38, the head 1 is returned to its home position, and the tension-variable plate 27 is removed to leftwards, so that the spring force of the subsidiary spring 35 is applied onto the arm 9.
