CONSTITUTION:At the compressing, a level sensor 2 detects the level of an input signal Vi, and the output Vc thereof is sent to a differential amplifier 6. On the other hand, the output Vcr of the time when a reference level Vr is inputted to a level sensor 2 is inputted to the differential amplifier 6. The differential output of both inputs goes through analog switches 9, 11 which are changed over depending upon positive and negative, by way of an inversion amplifier 8 and a positive-negative decision circuit 7. The degree of S/N improvement when Vc<Vcr and the degree of saturation improvement when Vc>Vcr are displayed in display devices 12, 13. At the expanding, the similar display is accomplished.
