Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb noise effectively over a wide frequency range, by disposing an intermediate wall formed with apertures at a portion or over the entire surface thereof between an outer wall and an inner wall, stuffing sound-absorbing material between the intermediate wall and the inner wall, and forming an air inlet opening and an air outlet opening to have a curvature.
CONSTITUTION: Inside a boxlike outer wall 1, there is placed an inner wall 5 formed at its opposite end portions with air inlet and outlet openings 8, 8' having a curvature. Further, an intermediate wall 2 formed with apertures 3 at a portion or over the entire surface thereof is disposed in the manner of surrounding the inner wall 5. Sound-absorbing material 6 is stuffed in the space formed between the intermediate wall 2 and inner wall 5 and sound-absorbing material 7 is also applied over the inner surface of outer wall 1. Here, since the air inlet and outlet openings 8, 8' are both shaped to have a proper curvature, generation of unnecessary vortices can be prevented when air flows into and out of air inlet and outlet openings 8, 8'. Further, by the function of sound-absorbing materials 6, 7 and hollow space 4 serving as resonce silencer, it is enabled to absorb noise effectively.
