Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily detect faulty elements by a method wherein a detection current is flowed from a fault detecting source to a main circuit to detect a short-circuit current flowing in the faulted elements. CONSTITUTION:A switch SW1 of a main power source E0 is opened and a switch SW2 of the fault detecting source E1 is closed. In this condition, when contacts (b), (d) are opened and a contact (c) is closed, the detection current does not flow if the elements SCR7, SCR8 are normal, and accordingly, no voltage is induced between detection terminals a21, a23. If the both elements or either of them are faulted, there can be detected which elements is the faulted element by measuring the induced voltages between the detection terminals a21, a22 and between a22, a23. Thereby, after the upper half circuit on the load L side is inspected, the contacts (b), (c) are opened and the contact (d) is closed to enable the faulted element of the lower half circuit to be detected. Then, the contacts (b), (c) are closed and the contact (d) is opened to enable the faulted element of the upper half circuit on the power source E0 side to be detected, and the contacts (b), (c) are closed and the contact (c) is opened to enable the faulted element of the lower half circuit to be detected.
