Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled foam having the very low smoking property, improvied flame retardancy without bursting even in contact with a flame, etc., by adding a specific amount of a vinyl phosphonate compound to raw materials for the foam.
CONSTITUTION: In reacting an organic polyisocyanate, e.g. diphenylmethane diisocyanate, with a polyol, e.g. the reaction product between an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid and an alkylene oxide, in the presence of a catalyst, a blowing agent, e.g. trichloromonofluoromethane or water, and a foam stabilizer, a vinyl phosphonate compound expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are 1W6C alkyl, halogenated alkyl or hydroxyalkyl) in an amount of 1W50pts.wt., preferably 5W 30pts.wt. based on one equivalent organic polyisocyanate is added to the raw materials.
