Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a fender means with a small reaction and a better energy absorbing efficiency by using a liquid for energy transmission between an impact receiving plate section for directly receiving an impact on a quay and a buffer section for absorbing an impact received by the plate in such a manner that both sections are separated from each other.
CONSTITUTION: The outer end of the first piston rod 3 is located on the back of an impact receiving plate separated from the surface of a quay. The piston rod 3 is surrounded by the first cylinder 3', while a pressure transmission pipeline 4 filled with a fluid from the rear end of the cylinder 3' and the end of the pipeline 4 is connected to the rear end of the second cylinder 9' set at a proper position. The second cylinder 9' also has the second piston rod 9, the tip of which is connected to a buffer element. A rubber fender material or a hydraulic damper is ideal for the element.
