Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable accurate control of the air-fuel ratio even at the time when an exhaust gas sensor is inactive by setting the comparison output of a comparator at a prescribed condition when a power source is charged in the device wherein the air- fuel ratio is subjected to feedback control in accordance with the output of the sensor.
CONSTITUTION: When the power source is charged on the start of operation of an engine, the output of the comparator 12 reaches a high level since the detection signal of the exhaust gas sensor 1 is at a low level before the operation of the engine and since a transistor 9 is turned on only for a prescribed time (about 0.5sec) set by a timer circuit composed of resistors 7, 8 and a capacitor 10 to impress the voltage of the power source on the side of noninverting input of the comparator 12. Accordingly, the actuator of an adjusting device 14 is turned on and set in the state of initial setting. When the engine is started at this time, the output of the sensor 1 found in a half-active condition at the initial stage of the starting is amplified 2 and inputted in an AC connection capacitor 3, and the fluctuating part of the output of the sensor 1 is taken out and inputted in the comparator 12.
