Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the fluctuation in the level of readout voltage by detecting the level of the readout voltage of the burst signal part which is at the beginning of each data stripe and regulating the gain of the data readout system at every data stripe. CONSTITUTION:A data readout system 7 consists of a readout circuit 6 and a gain circuit 5. The gain circuit 5 changes over the readout gain of the circuit 6 according to the signal from an analog/digital converter 4. The output of the circuit 6 is fed back to the gate 1 side, and while the gate 1 is opened, all the circuits form a feedback loop. Controlling of the read-out gain is accomplished every time when the gate 1 is opened. Namely, at every data stripe on the magnetic tape, the readout gain is readjusted at the readout starting time thereof. Hence, with such constitution, the fluctuation in the level of the readout voltage at every data stripe is prevented.
