Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain cylindrical metallic bodies of one body having optional sizes with the same production facility, by performing the hot hydrostatic press treatment on coils of metallic sheet by intercepting the clearance between laminated metallic sheets from the outside.
CONSTITUTION: Coiled multilayer cylinder 2 is formed by rolling metallic sheet 1, and its beginning and terminating ends 3 and 4 and side 6 are welded, so that the clearance between laminated sheets 1 may be interceptedly sealed from the outside. Then, the hot hydrostatic press (HIP) treatment is performed on the cylinder under a high temperature and a high pressure gas atmosphere, and laminated sheet 1 is diffusion sealed to each other into one body. In this case, however, it is most important to perform the above mentioned interception, and, therefore, most careful attentions are to be paid for the seal welding.
