Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a display device of a large area, thin type and high degree of freedom by using optical fibers which output the optical outputs of the respective positions of a voltage control liquid crystal filter to corresponding positions. CONSTITUTION:The respective unit segments of a voltage control liquid crystal filter 2 are selectively controlled according to the images to be displayed, by which the images thereof are displayed as bright and dark patterns on the output faces 1-1 of optical fiber aggregate 1. Color display is feasible as well if rays of red, blue and green are entered each of three voltage control liquid crystal filters 13-1-13-3 and the output ends of the aggregate 1 are so disposed that the light outputs of the respective same positions of the filters 13-1-13-3 are aggregated and are outputted to the corresponding positions. It is also possible to make the spacial shape of the output ends into arbitrary curved faces without limiting to plane.
