Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the phase difference between both vibrations by sampling the amplitude value of the vibration produced by arising from a known frequency. CONSTITUTION:A detector 17 which detects the vibration of a mold 2 and a detector 16 which detects the molten metal level in the mold 2 are provided in a continuous casting plant. When the mold 2 makes simple vibration of a frequency omega (known), the signal of (equation-1) appears in the output of the detector 17. Also, the signal of (equation-2) (alpha: phase angle) appears in the output of the detector for the molten level vibrating along with the mold. These outputs are sampled at the times t1, t2, t3, and (equation-3) is obtained, by which the phase angle alpha is determined. Simultaneously, wave crest a0, y-intercept b are determined as well. In this way, the phase angle alpha is measured accurately dispite the existence of time lag of first order in the response of the molten level detector. Hence, the molten metal level in the mold is accurately maintained.
