Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled phosphor with excellent emissive power and performance characteristics, by calcining a powder mixt. consisting of a rare earth metal compd. a silicate compd. and a specified flux, and flying the flux by reheating the mixt. in a reducing or neutral atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A terbium-activated lanthanum yttrium silicate phosphor is obtd. by adding 0.5W5wt% KF or KF and NH4Cl as a flux to a mixt. consisting of a rare earth metal compd. such as Y2O3, La2O3 or Tb4O7, and a silicate compd. such as SiO2, and calcining the resulting mixt. at 1,100W1,300°C for 2W5hr. After the phosphor is reduced in K content to 0.35wt% or less by reheating at a temp. ≥1,200°C in a reducing or neutral atmosphere and flying the flux, it is cooled and crushed.
