Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a paint which assumes a noble metallic color, can be printed directly on ceramic products and does not require two stages in the production of transfer papers, by a method wherein mica powder having a coating layer of titanium oxide is kneaded with low-melting glass powder in an org. solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Fine mica powder having a coating layer of titanium oxide on its surface is kneaded with low-melting glass powder in an org. solvent. The preferred particle size of the mica powder is 5W150μ. When the particle size is smaller than 5μ, luster is lost. When the particle size exceeds 150μ, the deposition rate of titanium oxide is reduced and further there is a disadvantage in that clogging is caused when screen printing is carried out. The optical thickness of the coating layer of titanium oxide is pref. 140W400mμ. When the thickness is about 140mμ, reflected light turns silver. When the thickness is 400mμ, reflected light turns green and transmitted light turns red.
