Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a grain pattern similar to a precious wood free from a repetitive pattern from top to foot by reducing the length of a plate prepg. roll only in the vertical direction and setting an offset roll at a peripheral velocity higher than that of the plate preparing roll to print on a base material.

CONSTITUTION: First, a precious wood is photographed and based on the photograph, the width direction of a horizontal direction roll is set at a desired size and the vertical length (roll pheripheral direction) is reduced beyond a desired size to manufacture an iron plate preparing roll. After this roll is set at a gravure offset printer, the peripheral velocity of an offset roll is set higher than that of a plate preparing roll at an inverse proportion to its reduction ratio. Then the offset roll is caused to slip at a point where it contacts the plate preparing roll and a pattern on the plate preparing roll is elongated in a vertical direction. As a result, the pattern is transferred to the offset roll, and further is transferred onto a base material. Thus a decorative material having a pattern 2 of desired size is obtained.
