Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable bonding of a T-shaped joint having a fillet solely by diffusion bonding by adjusting the gap between grooves on the faying surface.
CONSTITUTION: The faying surface of a component 13 having a fillet is machined into a concave form and bonding to a component 14. In this case, relatively low pressure is applied at first to join only the both ends. Then, the distribution of compressive pressure 16 of the faying surface 15 completes joining in an extent 17 that exceeds the lowest necessary compressive stress for joining. After this, when relatively high pressure is applied, joining of the central part is completed and thus joining of the whole faying surface 15 is brought to completion. By this method, T- shaped joint having a fillet of large flexural ridigity can be obtained without spoiling special features of diffusion bonding such as possibility of joining with small deformation and possibility of simple joining of materials which are difficult to weld.
