Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the purification efficiency of waste water by adding an org. high polymer flocculant into the water to be treated in purifying sewage by the effect of the microbes stuck on the surface of organism sticking media.
CONSTITUTION: The org. high polymer flocculant to be added may be any of cationic system, anionic system and nonionic system, and from an overall point of view, the cationic system is most preferable. The amount of addition is about 0.2W 20mg/l, and it is added to the water to be treated only in the initial period of treatment or continuously or intermittently. The molecules of the org. high polymer flocculant are adsorbed on the surface of suspended particles to form bridges among the multiple suspended particles. These cohere to make flocs which are then captured by the microbes stuck on the surfaces of organism sticking media and are gradually fixed so that the strong and tough microbe films form over the entire area of the surfaces of the organism sticking media, whereby the microbes of the amount sufficient of purifying sewage are assured.
