Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent water drops from being produced and sticking in a mold by passing no cooling water to the outside circumference of the mold at the preheating of the tundish and passing the cooling water after the preheating.
CONSTITUTION: At the time when the exhaust gas produced at the preheating pf a tundish passes the inside of the cooled mold, the moisture is prevented from condensing on the surface in the mold. Namely, the supply of cooling water to a cooling water device 4 is stopped and the cooling water is held stagnated in the cooling water device 4, thence the preheating of the tundish 1 is performed. The mold 3 is heated by the exhaust gas flowing from the tundish 1 so that its temperature rises. Since the cooling water does not flow, the formation of water drops in the mold 3 is prevented. If the pressure of the cooling water stagnating in the cooling water device 4 increases and its value exceeds a predetermined value, the cooling water becomes steam and exhausts through an exhaust port 7 by the operation of a relief valve.
