Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent cutting tools from hazards such as cracks, breakdown, etc. due to impacts during work so as to reduce the cost of production by beveling edges of base metals to which over-layer of shock resistive metal is integrally welded, through an intermediate alloy layer.
CONSTITUTION: Each edge 7 providing a cutting edge 5 of a shank material 3 of a shear blade 1 in a shearing machine is subjected to edge preparation 9. An over- layer of metal 11a directly welded to said edged portion 9 increases easiness of welding the shank material 3 and an intermediate edge member layer 11b, while reducing stress during padding, acting as a special alloy layer for preventing the weld from cracks, pinholes, etc. The intermediate edge member layer 11b is padded outside the metal layer 11a and further outside this intermediate layer 11b is padded an edge blank 5 with high hardness and shock resistance. After the whole configuration is formed with alloy 11 constituting the shank material 3 and edge portion 5, the edge portion 5 is ground and finished into a predetermined shape.
