Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce interference among respective vibrating elements by splitting one electrode of each vibrating element and by driving split electrode parts of adjacent vibrating elements which do not confront mutually for ultransoic wave emission. CONSTITUTION:Individual electrodes of respective vibrating elements A1-A5 are divided into two respectively to obtain split electrodes C11-C52, to which lead wires D11-D52 are connected respectively. In oscillation, slit electrodes, which do not confront mutually, of adjacent vibrating elements, e.g. C12, C21, C32, C41 and C52 only are driven to take a required scan. In reception, all split electrodes C11- C52 are used.
