Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the liquefying ratio of coal, by washing a medium and a heavy oil components obtained by liquefying the coal with an acid liquor, e.g. hydrochloric acid, removing compounds containing nitrogen, hydrogenating the components, and using the resultant product as a solvent for liquefying the coal.
CONSTITUTION: A medium and a heavy oil components having a boiling point ≥211°C obtained by liquefying coal are washed with an acid liquor, e.g. hydrochloric acid, nitric acid or sulfuric acid, to remove compounds containing nitrogen, e.g. quinoline or pyridine, and the resultant components are hydrogenated. The hydrogenated product is then used as a solvent for liquefying coal. For example, a reactant 7 obtained in a coal liquefying process 6 is separated in a distillation column 1, and a medium and a heavy oil components C having a boiling point ≥211°C are fed from a cooler 8-1 to a denitration extracting column 2 and washed with an acid liquor D, e.g. hydrochloric acid. The resultant denitrate components are then hydrogenated in a hydrogenating column 4, passed through a cooler 8-2, separated in a high-pressure separating column 5 to separate the unpurified hydrogen gas G and fed to the coal liquefying process 6 as a solvent Y for liquefying the coal.
