Abstract
PURPOSE:To nondestructively and safely detect the degree of the deterioration in interlayer insulator by applying a high-frequency voltage becoming a resonant state by the inductance and capacitance of an armature coil across the layers of the armature coil wherein a change in characteristics is detected. CONSTITUTION:A high-frequency voltage is applied across the layers of an armature coil 1 by utilizing commutator pieces 2. And especially, the frequency characteristic of impedance Z is measured at the frequency band resion becoming a resonant state by the inductance and capacitance of the armature coil 1. As the capacitance is changed with the deterioration in the layer insulator of the armature coil 1, the characteristic curve will vary as the progress of the deterioration from the solid line to the dotted line in the Fig. Therefore, the degree of the deterioration in the interlayer insulator is judged from the degree of a change in said characteristics. In this way, a deterioration in insulation will safely and nondestructively be detected with decreased test voltage.
