Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease insertion losses by disposing a dielectric in the predetermined direction between the respective mirrors of an interferometer. CONSTITUTION:Semitransparent mirrors 1a, 1b are placed in parallel to each other to constitute a Fabry-Pe rot interferometer. A transparent dielectric 4 is inserted between the mirrors and transparent electrodes 5a, 5b are provided on both sides of the dielectric 4. The exit light from an optical fiber 8a is collimated by a lens 7a, is made incident to the interferometer, transmits through the interferometer according to the spectral characteristics selected by the applied voltage, is condensed by a lens 7b and is conducted to an optical fiber 8b. In this case, the advancing direction of the light passing the dielectric 4 having the transparent electrodes and the direction to be applied with the voltage 6 are coincided and this direction is the (z) axis.
