Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain feed as well as edible mushrooms by decomposing cellulose, chitin, lignin, etc. existing in peat as the main components with edible mushrooms, thereby converting the components to digestible nutrient materials.
CONSTITUTION: Peat is neutralized with an alkali, mixed with about 20W30wt% of fat-containing grains such as rice bran, corn flour, etc., and sterilized to obtain a mixed medium. Mycelia of edible mushroom, e.g. agaric, are inoculated and cultured in the mixed medium, and the grown fruit bodies are collected from the medium. After the collection of the fruit bodies, the residual medium is collapsed, and served as feed with or without drying.
