Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily separate and recover Al from Al part-contg. scrap such as scrap car parts by heating the scrap in a reverberatory furnace to melt the Al part alone and separating the molten Al from coexistent solid steel parts.
CONSTITUTION: Al part-contg. scrap such as scrap car parts is placed on throwing preparatory stand 5 and front door 16 of reverberatory furnace 1 is opened to charge the scrap into combustion chamber 10 of furnace 1 by pushing it with throwing plate 6. Door 16 is shut and the ceiling of furnace 1 is heated upward with burner 8 via through hole 26. By the radiant heat the Al part alone in the scrap is melted and the molten Al flows into the 2nd melting furnace 2 through inclined furnace bottom 13 made of heat resistant steel and narrow Al inflow hole 21. Coexistent larger steel parts slide down residue discharge plate 3 on furnace 2 through back door 17 opened and smaller steel parts caught in hole 21 are removed by moving discharge rod 4 vertically, back and forth. Much smaller steel parts drop into furnace 2 together with the molten Al and are removed after pouring the molten Al into an ingot case.
