Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover Ag contained in waste films in a high yield by dissolving the films in dil. nitric acid to elute the Ag and treating the eluate with an NO3 type anion exchange resin.
CONSTITUTION: Waste films are heat dissolved in dil. nitric acid to elute Ag into the soln. as cations, and a precipitate of gelatin, etc. formed is filtered. The soln. is filtered and the filtrate is passed through an NO3 type anion exchange resin column. Ag ions pass through the column without stopping and is eluted into the soln. as silver nitrate. This silver nitrate soln. is evaporated to dryness to recover Ag as silver nitrate crystals in 99% high yield.
