CONSTITUTION:A reproduction time mode is switched automatically by counting the number of pulses of an output signal of a frequency generator for detecting the rotational frequency of a capstan motor which is proportional to a traveling distance of a magnetic tape, at an interval of one control. For instance, in case of a standard time S.P mode, since the output signal of the frequency generator 6 consists of 72 pulses at a control signal interval, the output of the NAND gate 15 becomes a waveform of U. In this case, the output of the NAND gate 15 is H. A signal of U which has been obtained to the output of the gate 15 becomes a set signal to the RS-FF31, and becomes a reset signal to the RS-FF30, therefore the output of the FF31 and the output of the FF30 become H and L, respectively, and the S.P mode detection lamp 28 is lighted. According to such a constitution, it is possible to automatically detect a time mode exactly and swiftly.
