Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the reliability of the tool correction by a method wherein the change of the axis distance between the base axis of tool holding members and the axis of a center holding a work is detected before the start of working and the tool correction value obtained from a postprocessor is modified according to the charge of axis distance.
CONSTITUTION: The change of the axis distance x between the base axis l2 of the tool holding members 15 and 16 and the axis l1 of the center of a tail stock 11 holding the work 1 is detected by a detector 24 using a differential transformer or the like at the end of working of the last time and before the start of working of this time. The tool correction value obtained by measuring the diameter of the work 1 by the postprocessor 2 is modified according to the change of axis distance. Consequently, the accuracy of finishing of the work is remarkably improved without providing a temperature measurement means for measurement of thermal displacement.
