Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a fuel shut-off device usable in a key switch of any construction when applied to an engine stopping mechanism of diesel engines or the like, by providing an electric power holding device capable of keeping an electric conduction state for a prescribed time after opening a circuit of the key switch.
CONSTITUTION: To stop an engine, if a key switch 32 is placed to an OFF postion (in a state with connection not to any terminal), a transistor 60 is conducted to flow an electric current by voltage charged to a capacitor 50, further puls voltage applied to the base of a transistor 62 is lost to also cause the transistor 62 to be in a state of conduction to flow a current. In this way, an electric current, flowing in a coil 70 of a relay 68 through the transistor 62, closes a contact 74 to flow an electric current in a coil 18 of a solenoid 14. Accordingly, a plunger 16 makes the displacement to operate the control lever of a fuel pump 12 thus shut off the supply of fuel.
