Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the production of a high-density fiber forming material, made three-dimentionally netlikely, at a high productivity, by a method wherein an expandable copolymer is discharged through a mouth ring having a discharge surface wherein minute convexities and concavities having a given size and a large number of copolymer discharge ports are provided. CONSTITUTION:An expandable molten copolymer is discharged through a mouth ring 7 having a minute convexities and concavities, where a mean distance between discharge holes is 0.03-1.5mm., a mean top is 0.01-3.0mm. in height, and a mean distance between the tops is 0.02-1.5mm., and having a large number of copolymer discharge ports in a surface thereof. So discharged copolymer is pulled out with a discharging surface cooled to form a netlike fiber forming material. For example, a thermoplastic copolymer is supplied from a hopper 1, and the copolymer quantitatively fed to an extruder 2 is transferred to a vent section 3 as it is molten. The expandable molten copolymer is fed quantitatively to a spinning head 6 by means of a gear pump 5, and is discharged through discharge ports of the mouth ring 7. So discharged copolymer is pulled out by means of rollers 9 as it is rapidly cooled by means of a cooling device 8.
