Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the slip resistance and motion characteristics of a pneumatic tire without worsing its abrasion resistance by providing the tire tread with major grooves in parallel with the tire's circumference and also arranging minor grooves, alternately in those major grooves at different angles. CONSTITUTION:Between the major grooves 1 excavated in the tire tread in parallel with the tire's circumference, minor grooves 2 having either of minor groove angles theta1, 70-110 deg.C, and theta2, 60 deg. or less, are arranged alternately, where the value (theta1+ theta2) shall not be less than 120 deg.. This arrangement will surely contribute to enhancing the slip resistance of a tire for a wet road and holding the abrasion resistance over the tolerable level.
