Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the processing of a receiver by separating storing one screen of character codes and one screen of character patterns, and by displaying one or more of character pattern by reading the both simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A binary picture signal received by receiving circuit 1 is reconverted into an original digital signal waveform by signal processing circuit 2 and the digital signal is inputted to discrimination control circuit 3 which controls writing to pattern memory 4 and code memory 5. This control circuit 3 discriminates between a character code signal and character pattern signal by the discrimination signal in the control signal included in a TV signal. In pattern memory 4, a character pattern is stored by being decomposed into (m) dots longitudinally and (n) dots laterally, and characters, symbols, etc., encoded and transmitted are stored in memory 4; and X bits of the characters, symbols, etc., are decoded to generate patterns of the characters, symbols, etc., from character generating ROM6. The outputs of pattern memory 4 and ROM6 are read to OR gate 7 simultaneously to display one or more of character pattern on display element 8.
