Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the quality of printed matter without increasing the memory capacity of a memory for storing control steps by a method wherein a dummy space is provided after an acceleration or a deceleration of a pulse motor and then a printing operation is conducted.

CONSTITUTION: When the number of printed characters is read from a control data memory 3, a space-controlling circuit 6 reads the data from a memory 7 and sets the data on a space counter 11 through a change-over gate 10. When the number of skips read, the circuit 6 subtract the number of dummy spaces from the number of skips, then sets the numbers of skip accelerations, skip constant-speed feeds and skip decelerations on the counter 11 and sets the number of dummy spaces on the counter 11. Further, series of numbers are red from a memory 8 in a desired sequence and set on a timer circuit 9, timer-end pulses are fed to the circuit 6 when the count value becomes 0, the pulses are used for increasing and decreasing the address numbers and are fed to a printing-controlling circuit 4 through an AND gate 12. A printing head 15 prints while being moved at a constant speed suitable for printing by a pulse motor 14.
