Abstract
PURPOSE:To make an apparatus compact and to enhance its thermal efficiency by segmenting and forming a reacting zone and a preheating zone in a heat-insulated vessel, discharging the high-temp. fluid of the reacting zone to the outside of the vessel through the preheating zone, and charging a reacting raw material into the reacting zone after preheating in the preheating zone. CONSTITUTION:A reacting zone 6 is heated to a high temp. by the combustion of a burner 5. The formed combustion gas 21 is flowed into a preheating zone 7 through a passage 1, to preheat preheating pipes 10, thence it is exhausted through an exhaust port 14. On the other hand, for example, hydrocarbon which is a raw material is sent together with steam through a supply pipe 11 into the spiral preheating pipes 10, where it is preheated, thence it is conducted through a crossover 12 to a reacting pipe 2. In the reacting pipe 2, prescribed modification takes place owing to the presence of a modifying catalyst and the heat supply from the reacting zone 6 and the mixed gases contg. hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, etc. are taken out as reaction product successively through a product take-out pipe 13.
