Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate repairing of a fuel injection pump, by employing such an arrangement that a plunger spring can be assembled easily into a longitudinal bore from above and fixed tightly in place, and the plunger spring can be drawn out, when necessary, from above the longitudinal bore.
CONSTITUTION: A tappet 5 is inserted into a longitudinal bore 4 formed in a pump housing 3 from above the bore 4 and it is fixed in place by preventing turning of the same by a pin 6. Onto the top of the tappet 5, there are inserted a plunger spring 7 and an upper sheet 8. Further, a stop ring 10 obtained by shaping a spring material into a C-form having a diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the longitudinal bore 4 is dropped onto the upper surface of the sheet 8. Then, the stop ring 10 is enlarged by use of an inclined surface 9 of the upper sheet 8 and the tensile force of the spring 7 to the extent that it is urged into a ring groove 11 formed in the inner surface of the bore 4, so that the upper sheet 8 is prevented from coming out. Thereafter, assembling of the apparatus is completed by fixing a control sleeve 13, a control rack 14 and a plunger barrel 15.
