Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive nonpoisonous glaze composition forming a lustrous glassy film without causing sagging, blackening, etc. by mixing a thickener soln. contg. (hydroxypropyl)methylcellulose, low m.p. glass frit and an oxidizing agent.
CONSTITUTION: Water (a) and a solvent such as alcohol and/or ketone (b) compatible with water are mixed in 20:80W80:20wt. ratio. Methylcellulose and/or hydroxypropylmethylcellulose as a thickener is dissolved in the mixed soln. by 0.1W 3.0wt% to the amount of the soln. to prepare a thickener soln. (A). To 50W 150pts.wt. this soln. (A) are added 100pts.wt. low m.p. glass frit (B) and 0.1W 2pts.wt. inorg. nitrate such as NaNO3 and/or inorg. oxygen-contg. halide such as NaClO3, and they are mixed to obtain an inexpensive pollution-free glaze composition forming a lustrous glassy film without causing sagging, blackening, etc. in coating.
