Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily separate borofluorides from waste water at a high efficiency, by contacting borofluoride-containing waste water with an active carbon containing a basic dyestuff adsorbed.
CONSTITUTION: Borofluoride-containing waste water discharged from a metal finishing factory or the like, is contacted with an active carbon which has preparatively adsorbed a basic dyestuff such as methylene blue or methyl violet. The borofluorides in the waste water form a complex compound with the basic dyestuff. The formed complex compound is adsorbed as such, and kept in the active carbon. Consequently, the borofluorides are separated from the waste water at a high efficiency, without necessity of heating or compressing, or without necessity of discharging any sludge which is hardly desiccatable.
